Simon Culshaw a Master Mariner, began his seafaring career in the British Merchant Navy, he has experience in the environmental and weather sensitive areas or the Polar Regions and survey ships in the Offshore Oil and Gas Industry.
He has over twenty years experience working in the Oil and Gas, Marine and Environmental Industries worldwide, including the High Arctic.
As Managing Director of CTS, Simon is a recognised authority on a number of marine topics. He brings together a wide range of seafaring experience with practical expertise in offshore opera- tions, emergency response planning, hydrographic surveying, marine environmental boundary delimitation and oceanographic projects.
He has contributed to high value projects - towing of mammoth structures, steel jacket launches and installation, subsea pipeline and operations He has knowledge of ROV's, AUV's Submersibles and satellite remote sensing of marine space. He project manages environmental projects EIS, base line surveys and environmental monitoring projects.
He has been appointed by solicitors and counsel to shipping arbitrations and public enquiries. Training:
British Certificate Master Mariner Foreign Going 1967. Bachelor of Science Joint Honours. (Oceanography/Geography - Survey) 1972.
Master of Philosophy (Satellite monitoring marine space and operations in Exclusive Economic Zones) 1993.
Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors - Chartered Surveyor.
Membership: Liveryman, Warden and Master (2003-2004) - Honourable Company of Master Mariners - London livery company.
Member of the Pipeline Industries Guild. Associate fellow of the British Remote Sensing Society. Fellow of the institute of Marine Engineers, Science and Technologists. Member of the Society of Underwater Technology. Fellow of the Royal Institute of Navigation. Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.
