ABOUT MOUHAMED KEBE


Mouhamed KEBE is the Managing Partner of GENI & KEBE and practices in the area of corporate and Investment law with a concentration in the West and Central Francophone African Sub Region. Over the last ten years, he has advised many transnational corporations on domestic and cross border transactions in Senegal and Africa.


Top ranked in Chambers global as leader in his field, he is closely attuned to foreign investors’ concerns on doing business in Francophone Africa. He is the focal contact to many international law firms and In house Counsels from the EU, Americas, the Middle East, and Asia, who seek his collaboration and advice on projects contemplated in his field. He also oversees commercial transactions including joint ventures, banking & finance corporate reorganisation and restructuring.


Mouhamed graduated from the University of Dakar Cheikh Anta Diop (SENEGAL) and the University


of Essex (United Kingdom), and earned a certificate in International Commercial and Investment Arbitration from the University of London.


He is qualified with the Senegalese Bar Association (1993) and is member of the Law Society of England and Wales (International Division), the American Bar Association, and the International Bar Association.


He regularly speaks in seminars and workshops on issues relating to doing business in Africa and has published lots of articles on issues in relation to his field. He recently presented on ‘’Stabilisation clauses


in the investment contracts’’ on


International Union of Lawyers seminar held in in Saly Portudal, Senegal, on March 2014


He has seconded in major law firms based in Paris and London, and is fluent in English, French, Wolof, and Arabic

He is involved in a wide range of corporate transactions including formation of companies and subsidiaries, corporate governance, cross-border M&A, corporate law, international investment law, mining and energy, banking and finance, employment law.

NOTABLE LEGAL WORK


• Advised the Islamic Bank of Development, a company based in Ryadh, Saudi Arabia on a share purchase agreement with the Islamic Bank of Senegal


• Advised Jindal Steel & Power, a company registered in India on a BOT contract with SENELEC, the State Senegalese energy company. Through the agreement Jindal will build develop, finance, insure, own, operate and maintain a Power Station of 300 MW coal connected to the Senelec Grid. Jindal will also sell energy to Senelec.


• Advising Dangote Group, a company based in Nigeria, on a settlement, further to a dispute on a land where the company erected a cement plant. The settlement will allow the company to finalise the erection of the plant and start cement production that will be sold in the Senegalese and the West African markets.


• Advising FRAPORT, a company based in Germany on a contract with the government


of Senegfal related to the concession of the new Senegalese international airport


• Advising EXIMBANK India, on a collateral loan in favor of an Indian company having subsidiaries in Ghana and Senegal


• Advised Capricorn, a company registered in Scotland on oil exploration license in Senegal


• Advised Citibank, on a transaction with the Senegalese government related to debt sovereignty


• Advised TNS, a UK listed company on a cross border M & A transaction within 8 African countries
