Occupation: Cameraman, cinematographer.
What is your academic background? I obtained the “Television Camera Work” diploma from the School of Media Arts and Management, Sri Lanka, in 2004. At the same time I hold the Diploma of Directing from the National Film Corporation and a Diploma of Photography from Hegoda School of Photography. I am also planning to get the Degree of DOP from a foreign university.
How did you become a cameraman?
After obtaining the “Television Camera Work” diploma, I worked as an assistant cameraman for two years. In 2006 I joined MTV Channel Pvt Ltd as a cameraman. In 2007 I was promoted as an executive cameraman at MTV. I resigned from MTV in 2008
and worked as a freelance cameraman up to 2012. I joined Carlton Sports Network in 2013 as a cameraman, and am doing my level best at present while running my own production company.
Current assignments, where, doing what, shooting for whom?
Often I shoot sports activities all over the country. I meet the best sportsmen and women in all parts of the country and make film documentaries about their talents. At the same time I often do
the filming of music videos. In the future, I have an assignment to go to India to shoot a film.
Other countries where you have worked? In 2011 I got an opportunity from Janasri News Channel to go to the state of Kolkata in India for ICC match coverage. There I met an experienced cameraman named Raja Sen who works for Kolkata TV channel. He helped me a lot in Kolkata.
Have you been busy? I often have to travel very far from my home town. I often go to very rural areas and have to stay away from home for three to four months. I am very grateful to my
family members, especially my girlfriend Krishna Mihirani, who always encourages me to achieve my goals. I'm sure that I'm in the best profession in the
