that we’ll hit the 40% target,’ predicts Datta. The Plan A report for 2013 shows that M&S has so far achieved a 31% improvement in overall energy effi ciency per square foot as against 2006/07, after making adjustments for differences in


the weather from year to year. Carbon emissions have fallen by 23% compared with 2006/07 – a reduction of more than 160,000 tonnes a year or 37% per square foot of stores, distribution centres and offi ces. Merseyside’s Cheshire Oaks (see
