01 ASHTON EATON The only thing missing from Ashton Eatonʼs

career resume was a World Outdoor Championships gold medal in the decathlon. Eaton accomplished that in Moscow by amassing 8,809 total points to follow up a

brilliant 2012 season that saw a world record and Olympic gold medal.

02 BRENDA MARTINEZ

Heading into competition in Moscow, few had been running better than Brenda Martinez. As she inched

by teammate Alysia Montano at the finish of the womenʼs 800m final, she made history in becoming

the first ever American to medal in the event at the World Outdoor Championships.

03 BRIANNA ROLLINS Brianna Rollins showed little concern when she fell

behind Olympic gold medalist Sally Pearson of Australia early in the womenʼs 100m hurdle final. She

chased down Pearson and the rest of the field to become the youngest World Outdoor Championships gold medalist in the event at age 21. Her season also included setting the collegiate and American records.

04 BRITTNEY REESE

Reese not only became the first woman to win three World Outdoor titles in the womenʼs long jump in Moscow, the victory was her sixth international championship since

2009, which includes sixth straight World Indoor, World Outdoor or Olympic gold medals.

05 DAVID OLIVER David Oliver returned to his 2010 form in winning dramatic

gold in the menʼs 110m hurdles in Moscow. He led a 1-2 American sweep that also included Ryan Wilson, who, at age

32, was making his first career appearance as part of an international team.

06 LASHAWN MERRITT

LaShawn Merritt made a statement that he is still a force in the menʼs 400m when he led a 1-2 American sweep in Moscow and

dominated Olympic champion Kirani James of Grenada. Merrittʼs winning time of 43.74 was a personal best and the fastest time run in the event since 2007.

07 MARY CAIN

Cain spent much of the 2013 track and field season making history and the 2013 World Outdoor Championships were no different. As she continued to advance through the rounds of the womenʼs

1500m, Cain became the youngest ever World Championships finalist in the event at 17 years old.

06 MEN’S 4X400M

The team of David Verburg, Tony McQuay, Arman Hall and LaShawn Merritt helped grab redemption for Team USA in the menʼs 4x400m after

finishing in silver medal position at the London Olympic Games. Merritt, who also won gold in the 400m, pulled away in the relay final to win comfortably and give Team USA its fifth straight gold medal in the event at

the World Outdoor Championships. 08 NICK SYMMONDS

Having been so close at so many international finals, Nick Symmonds seized

the opportunity in Moscow. His silver medal in the menʼs 800m is the first World Outdoor Championships medal in the event since 1997.
