INTRODUCTION

As part of our wider education strategy, we interviewed a number of education publishers ahead of Frankfurt Book Fair 2013 and asked them for their opinions on the state of the educational publishing and ebook publishing markets, what they’re doing to meet new challenges and where they think we’re headed.

It wasn’t too long ago that schools were challenged with implementing interactive whiteboards into the classroom. Teachers needed training, classrooms needed redesigning and students were undoubtedly engaged with the new technology, which was seen to be a novelty and created a new learning experience.

We spoke to a number of educational publishers and outlined a general picture of the responses below. We found that there was a general consensus concerning some answers, whilst others showed distinct divergences in opinion. Either way, this white paper is a good snapshot of opinion from major figures in educational publishing at the present time.
