KINGDOM ‘BANK HEAD (FEAT. KELELA)’ FADE TO MIND
PREVIOUSLY repping New York, Fade to Mind boss and Night Slugs affi liate Kingdom has now moved to LA, as much for the weather we reckon as the fact that EVERYONE is now living and working there. Consequently ‘Bank Head’, taken from his fi fth ‘Vertical XL EP’ has a deeper, dreamier quality than his previous,
harder output, settling for straight up r&b over dark edged club fare. Maybe it’s the weed, maybe it’s the heat, maybe it’s the infl uence of vocalist Kelela, but Kingdom seems to have found a new piece of mind in his adopted home. Clearly we’re on tenterhooks to hear the rest of the EP...
COAT OF ARMS
PREVIOUSLY the side-project of Bristol’s Eats Everything and Birmingham’s Chris James, Coat of Arms is now the sole preserve of Mr James, Mr Everything presumably fi nding his plate a little too full, even with his appetite. Crafting bumpin’, bass-led house topped by ear friendly vocal melodies, CoA has already appeared on the likes of Pets Recordings, Futureboogie and Gruuv, with DJ support ranging from
Jamie Jones (who featured tracks on his Essential Mix and Fabric CD) to Julio Bashmore. His podcast takes in various DJ Mag favourites, from A1 Bassline (Killered in the September issue of DJ Mag) to Neville Watson, alternating between light and dark with the speed and surprise of the UK weather.
