HCMSA, supplemented by its endowed fund, pay for the scholarships, which are divided between the two medical schools in Harris County. The recipients must be third- or fourth-year medical students in good standing with their re- spective medical schools. “In 2012, we are honored to have had TMA Immediate Past President Mi- chael E. Speer, MD, and TMA Alliance Immediate Past President Linda Adkins participate in our awards presentations. Their involvement in these functions is invaluable to our awardees,” says Kathy Giesler, HCMSA president. “In making the presentations, the medical students share their plans and aspirations, and we share our spouses’ experiences re- garding their training and medical prac- tices,” said Barbara Butler, HCMSA phil- anthropic president.
