Each tap listed has its minimum pressure requirements for adequate performance (measured in bars). Typically 0.1 to 0.9 bar is low pressure and 1 bar and above is high pressure. The amount of pressure generated depends on the type of water system installed. As a general guide, an indirect water system has a cold water tank (normally in a loft or airing cupboard) and a hot water storage tank (usually stored in an airing cupboard). This is a low pressure system. A direct water system (high pressure) takes water supply directly from the water mains and usually uses a combination boiler to generate hot water. Direct water systems can be used in medium and high pressure water supply areas.
Before purchasing a tap or arranging an installation, please check which system you have. If you are in any doubt, obtain advice from a suitably qualified person. All taps have ceramic disc valves or cartridges giving longer life and a water tight seal and brass back nuts for a more secure fit.§
