New Layperson’s Guide to California Wastewater Copies of the Water Education Foundation’s new Layperson’s Guide to California Wastewater are now available. This 28-page comprehensive guide is an excellent source of information about California wastewater. It includes a history of waste- water treatment; explains how wastewater is collected, conveyed and treated; out- lines the legal and regulatory primer for wastewater treatment and discharge permits; and discusses the current challenges facing the industry such as aging infrastructure, constituents of emerging concern, climate change and public education. Case studies highlight several California facilities that use different treatment
methods and the guide includes a glossary and sidebars offering information on the primary agencies involved in wastewater and additional resources to learn more about the topic. Aquapedia – Water A to Z The Foundation will soon launch a new website
Aquapedia.com. Aquapedia pro- vides easy-to-use, easy-to-understand information on water terms and topics from acre foot to the Yuba Accord. Information about a long list of other topics will be available with the click of the mouse.
Aquapedia centers on reference articles that explain specifi c terms, topics and issues. Each entry is supplemented with photos, videos, interactive maps and other online tools to understand California’s complex water issues. All terms and defi ni- tions in Aquapedia are from Foundation publications and other vetted resources. When the site goes live you will be able to: • Look up a specifi c term or issue such as groundwater • Browse a water terms glossary with easy-to-understand defi nitions • Watch videos of the places and discussions with key people related to specifi c terms
• Map the location of water sites through interactive maps An added bonus: Aquapedia and Aquafornia are linked! Users can search for breaking news on these same water topics on the Foundation’s water news site

Northern California Tour The Foundation will hold its annual Northern California Tour October 16-18. This popular tour travels the length of the Sacramento Valley and includes visits to Oroville and Shasta dams.
