UK AIRPLAY ANALYSIS  BY ALAN JONES

Reaching a new peak on plays (up 67 week-on-week at 4,407) but shedding nearly six million listeners, Justin Timberlake's Mirrors nevertheless secures a comfortable second week atop the radio airplay chart. With Bruno Mars' When I Was Your Man - number one for three weeks before Timberlake took over, and number two last week - beginning to fade, the biggest threat to Mirrors now comes from Just Give Me A Reason, the Pink/Nate Ruess track, which advances 3-2, securing 277 extra plays and 13.28m additional listeners versus the previous frame. Despite this, Timberlake still has a 16.73%

advantage in audience terms, with Mirrors drawing 21.83% of its audience from 16 plays on Radio Two, and 9.39% from 18 plays on Radio One. Michael Buble's biggest hit,

Haven't Met You Yet, peaked at number five on both sales and radio airplay in 2009. His new hit, It's A Beautiful Day, hasn't equalled that sales mark yet - it debuts at number 10 this week - but it beats its illustrious predecessor's radio airplay peak, climbing 5-4. Securing a bigger increase in plays - up by 653 (28.93%), from 2,257 to 2,910 - than any other song, it is being studiously ignored by Radio One but its biggest friend is Radio Two,

where it was aired 17 times last week, generating 34.43% of the song's audience. With the Capital Network almost equally resistant to it - it was aired nine times there, once on each station - it was nevertheless embraced particularly warmly by the Heart Network, where 15 stations aired it between 23 and 26 times apiece, contributing a joint 14.74% share, and 384 plays. Climbing 14-12 on sales after slipping three notches the previous week, 22 has an uninterrupted and impressive record of upward progress on the airwaves for Taylor Swift, and has now become the third straight Top 10 radio airplay hit from her latest album, Red. Following on from We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (2) and I Knew You Were Trouble (6), it has climbed 60-41-23-13-7 thus far, and its latest surge is attended by the biggest increase in audience (up 14.89m [40.53%] week-on- week at 51.62m) of any song. It overcame a dip in support from Radio One (down from 22 plays to

a third-best 20) by increasing from six to nine spins in the week on Radio Two. The latter station's huge audiences mean it generated a massive 30.03% of the track's total, compared to Radio One's 21.29%. Smash Hits Radio's tally of 56 plays was its highest, followed by 37 to 40 apiece by the Capital Network's nine constituents. The Saturdays' What About Us (feat. Sean Kingston) tops the TV airplay chart for a second week, with its promotional clip airing 739 times. That's 14 times fewer than in the previous frame, but 81 times more than Pitbull/Christina Aguilera's Feel This Moment, which charges 9-2. What About Us was most likely to be found at Capital TV (101 plays), Chart Show TV (72) and Chart Show Dance (70).
