The Storms of Life What do you do when the storms of life hit? Do


you try to hold on tight, stand firm and hope for the best?


When Jesus was with His disciples in a boat on the Sea of Galilee, a great storm blew in. The disciples panicked and went to wake up Jesus. “And they woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?’ And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, ‘Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?’” (Mark 4:38-40)


Although Jesus was in the boat with them, the disciples were afraid because they did not have their faith in the One who could save them. What about you? What are you trusting in to save you—money, possessions, relationships, career, yourself? Like the winds of change, the things of this world can be here one day and gone the next.


Jesus is with you and able to save you and satisfy your greatest need—your need for a Savior.


According to Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Although we are all sinners (Romans 3:23) and cannot save ourselves from the consequence of sin (i.e. death), there is hope.

God has offered you a gift of eternal life through Jesus. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Jesus paid the price for your sins through His death on the cross and won the victory over death when He rose again the third day. Therefore, it is only through Him that you can be saved.


John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Will you now take God at His word and accept Jesus as your Savior from sin?


If you would like to have God’s gift of eternal life, you may use the following prayer as a guide to express your desire to Him:


Dear God,


I know that I am a sinner. Thank you for sending your perfect Son to die in my place. I know that it is only through His sacrifi cial death on the cross and resurrection from the dead that I am able to have a new life in You. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen
