Understanding cancer (KS3/4)

 Every day six young people are diagnosed with cancer. Teenage Cancer Trust runs an education programme offering free cancer awareness sessions to schools.

 Take part in Farmhouse Breakfast Week, 20 to 26 January, and help educate pupils about the benefits of eating a healthy balanced breakfast.

 The UK’s biggest environmental competition, the Climate Week Challenge, from 4 to 10 March, is free, and requires no preparation.

Winter visits (All KSs)

English Heritage is opening 20 top sites for free educational visits until March, so school groups can have exclusive access to attractions such as Kenilworth Castle (left) with no other visitors.

Great minds… (KS3 to A level)

 Warwick University has launched IGGY, a social network service for gifted students with access to work with top academics, student mentors and other gifted young people worldwide. It is a paid-for service but is not-for-profit and offers free membership to disadvantaged students.

Making progress (KS4)

Ucas has launched a website looking at post-GCSE options such as A levels, BTecs and apprenticeships. The site offers students the opportunity to search for courses at schools, academies, colleges and work-based learning providers.
