homework. On Saturdays after the homework time, we have lessons about the Bible, fun activities and a light meal. We track the needs and difficulties each child has in doing their homework and problems that come up in their families or at school, and we provide pastoral care. We also offer parents special workshops that help with children’s health, nutrition and development.

Remember: children are neither helpless nor incapable because they are not yet adults. At San Juan Camino de Esparanza, we know children are people with intense pos- sibilities and potential. 

Ana Maria Jara (center) holds a flower made by a child at San Juan Camino de Espe- ranza. Jara leads Bible studies, art projects and helps the children with their studies.
