Titan Spine is a privately owned medical device surface tech- nology company in Mequon, Wisconsin that is focused on the design, manufacture, and marketing of proprietary titanium interbody fusion devices for the spine. Through strategic part- nerships with leading academic pioneers in materials science and biomedical engineering, the Company has created an im- plant surface that is unique to all other interbody fusion im- plant designs currently being offered in the marketplace. Titan Spine’s surface technology features a proprietary combination of textures on the macro, micro, and nano levels that has been shown to create a superior bone-formation response when compared to other common interbody implant materials such as PEEK and smooth titanium. The Company is committed to advancing the science of surface engineering to enhance the treat- ment of various pathologies of the spine that require fusion. The Com- pany’s product portfolio includes the Endoskeleton® TA (ALIF), TAS (ALIF with integrated screws), TT (TLIF), TO (PLIF and Oblique), and TC (cer- vical) interbody devices. The Com- pany recently created Titan Spine Europe, GmbH, based in Laichingen, Germany.

Left unchecked they risk further occurrence of secondary fractures & long-term disability. Harrowing stuff , read more on page 4 for the full story. In this issue, we have articles on rare vertebral metastasis in a case of hereditary paraganglioma, as well as a case report on delayed post-traumatic infarction in the spinal cord. We also have an interview with Peter Ullrich, from Titan Spine. We’re still running our questionnaire on intra-operative monitor-
