Anniversary Dinner – October 25 A celebratory dinner is set for Oct. 25 at The Vizcaya Inn in Sacramento to mark the Foundation’s 35th anniversary. The dinner will recognize the supporters, partners and volunteers who have helped the Foundation fulfill its mission to offer nonpartisan information on water issues through publications, conferences, school programs, tours and television documentaries. Water Leaders Class
The Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2013 William “Bill” Gianelli Water Leaders Class, a yearlong program that educates young professionals from diverse backgrounds about water issues. The deadline to apply is Dec. 10 and the class begins January 2013.
Each class member is assigned a top level policy-maker as a mentor as the class researches and analyzes a specific water topic. Class members must to attend a January orientation, the Bay-Delta Tour, one other Foundation tour, and the Foundation’s March 14-15 Executive Briefing.
The Bay-Delta Tour remains a highlight for our Water Leaders Class.
Criteria for acceptance include a commitment to understanding water issues and an interest in seeking leadership roles on public boards and commissions, or key staff positions. Tuition is $3,000. Scholarship funding is available from the William R. “Bill” Gianelli, Jean Auer, David Kennedy, Tom Graff and Anne Schneider scholarship funds.

San Joaquin River Restoration Tour Sign-ups are underway for the Foundation’s Nov. 8-9 San Joaquin River Restoration Tour. This two-day, one-night tour explores challenges associated with restoration of the San Joaquin River. On this tout learn about the current plans to restore the dry portions of the river to bring back the Chinook salmon. The tour begins and ends in Fresno. Participants will learn about fishery restoration goals, flood management planning, restoration flows and impacts to agricultural lands.
The San Joaquin River Restoration Tour is set for Nov. 8-9.
The tour is cosponsored by the Bureau of Reclamation, Mid-Pacific Region. Additional tour sponsors are Atkins; Brown and Caldwell; CH2M Hill; George Miller and Janet McKinley; MWH and PG&E.
