The Department seeks to hire an Assis- tant General Counsel. The General Coun- sel’s Office is a nine-lawyer unit that pro- vides legal services to the Department in support of its regulation of individual and firm activities in the financial services indus- tries. Assignments may include (1) legal counsel and regulatory support to the Com- missioner, Deputy Commissioners, and De- partment staff, (2) representation of the De- partment in administrative and judicial pro- ceedings, and (3) preparation and adoption of administrative rules. While not required, experience in the financial services sector, regulated industries, or civil litigation are desirable. Candidates must be admitted to the Vermont Bar or eligible for admis-


sion without examination. Starting salary ranges: Staff Attorney I $36,733 - $45,926 (0-2 yrs relevant experience); II $43,722 - $54,642 (2-5 yrs relevant legal experience); Staff Attorney III $52,125 - $62,691 (5-8 yrs relevant legal experience); Staff Attorney IV $60,008 - $67,080 (8 or more yrs relevant legal experience).
