and reflect its historic contribution to the civilian pipe band movement. It is intended that in years to come the new tune will be performed at the annual Govan Fair Parade on the first Friday in June. The competition is being organised under the auspices of the College
of Piping, Glasgow, with Mr RobertWallace, Principal, as chairman of the judging panel.This will comprise leading experts from the world of piping and pipe bands.The tune should take the form of a stirring 2/4 march in four (4) parts.
Entries must be lodged by 5pm on the 25th August.
Prizes of £200 for the winning entry and £100 for the runner-up will be donated by the GovanWeavers Society and presented at a ceremony on the 5th November 2012 commemorating the centenary of the annexation of Govan to Glasgow.The tunes will be performed during the evening.
