School Governors’ One-Stop Shop (SGOSS) is a national charity dedicated to recruiting enthusiastic, skilled and committed volunteers to become school governors. We are funded by the Department for Education and other trustees to deliver a completely free service to any school that has current or pending governor vacancies. We work with employers across the public and private sector, as well as community organisations throughout the country, to raise awareness of school governance and attract new volunteers. After feedback from head teachers, chairs and clerks, we have developed our Online Governor Recruitment Service to allow schools to register their vacancies on the SGOSS website. This package also provides access to free resources for parent and staff governor recruitment. The Online Governor Recruitment Service is completely free and can be accessed at
www.sgoss.org.uk/schools.
Once you have registered your vacancies, we can search our extensive database of volunteers to see if we have any suitable candidates.If we don’t, we can advertise your vacancies in the local community using our media and business contacts. Once a suitable volunteer comes forward, SGOSS will be in touch providing details of the volunteer for you to contact them and arrange a meeting.
