ON THE FLOOR UKF meets the USA Last chance to catch UK dubstep stars on tour

HAVING started in Philadelphia on March 1, the UKF tour moves into its fi nal month in April when it will shake the foundations of clubs up and down California. Putting on the biggest bass-driven events across the United Kingdom, featuring everyone from Chase & Status to Knife Party, UKF recently took in SXSW and WMC with massive shows featuring hook-ups with US collective SMOG. But following that, core players Gemini and KOAN Sound take centre stage again to show just why

they’re rising to the top of the global dubstep scene. At just 21-years-old, Gemini mixes classical piano playing with shuddering bottom end, dropping his ‘Fire Inside’ EP this week on Inspected Records, while KOAN Sound run the gamut from The Prodigy to Noisia, as well as throwing plenty of dusty funk into their Bristol-born sound, the UK city famed for its soundsystem culture and helping to nurture dubstep into the giant phenomenon it is today.
