NIRVANA

Formed by the legendary Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic in 1987 before adding the drumming wildman known as Dave Grohl in 1990, Nirvana changed the landscape of rock music in just a few short years. Though Nirvana disbanded after the death of Cobain in 1994, their legacy remains unscarred, with the band’s biggest hits still a staple of rock radio. Don’t wash your hair for a few days, rip your jeans and grunge out to Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come as You Are and Lithium.

FALL OUT BOY

Did you know that Pop- Punk megastars Fall Out Boy actually started off as a heavy metal band?!

Fortunately for them (and us) they discovered their trademark sound after deciding to follow in the

footsteps of a certain Greenday and play a brand of Pop-Punk that we will never stop listening to. Currently on hiatus, we hold out hope that we havent heard the last of Fall Out Boy. Whenever you need an instant boost of energy, stick on Dance Dance or Sugar, We’re Goin Down and just bounce around the room like a kangaroo on a trampoline.

Legends. Is there any other way to describe this band? Well yes, how about calling them one of the most successful, innovative and influential rock bands in the history of music! That’s better. Having brought us such classics as Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog and Stairway to Heaven, Led Zeppelin are undeniably one of the most enduring bands in rock history. On

top of that, their hotel antics cement the band as true superstars. John Bonham supposedly rode a motorbike through a rented floor of the Continental Hyatt House Hotel AND they travelled in style in a private jet liner (The Starship) complete with bedrooms, bar and a 30 foot couch! L-E-G-E-N-D-S.

Okay so they aren’t everyone’s cup of tea. Some critics have branded them boring, repetitive and derogative. But we don’t care. We say those critics are just sad, lonely individuals with nothing better to do.

Formed in 1995, they released two (very good) albums before becoming mainstream megastars with the release of Silver Side Up. If there is anyone who has not heard How You Remind Me, we guess it just proves the fact that some people really do live under rocks. Lead singer Chad Kroeger is a genius in that he knows exactly what people want, and exactly how far he can push boundaries.

VAN HALEN

You show me someone who says they haven’t had, at some point in their lives, an epic session of air guitar to the song Eruption…and I will show you a liar. The band, who had had their fair share of drama throughout their career, have produced some of the most awesome guitar driven rock tracks of all time. Listen to any one of Van Halens tracks and I dare you not to feel your body itching to ‘Jump’ on the table and shred the imaginary axe. See what we did there? Clever aren’t we?
