ount Holyoke’s international roots run deep. Its first international student was Susanna Major, class of 1843, from Ontario, Canada. The first Japanese student, Toshi Miyagawa, arrived on campus in 1888, the year the Seminary became a College. Today, nearly 26 percent of MHC students come from 70 countries around the world. The College is grateful for the wide-ranging support it receives from the 2,400 alumnae living outside the U.S. In fact, more than 90 percent believe that alumnae participation in annual giving is very important. Check out the map above for a quick look at the international support for the College. Thank you, MHC alumnae!
