MECHANICAL ENGINEERING 11AX the art of product branding Peggy Burke


This onsite course will present a comprehensive approach to Corporate Product Branding. Students will experience firsthand the development of a product brand from naming and developing positioning to the creation of a logo, website, and collateral. As a final project, students will present their overall brands to corporate executives. This project will include field trips to the client site and workshops with naming, positioning, and design professionals each day. Peggy Burke is the founder and Principal of 1185 Design, an award-winning graphic design firm specializing in corporate identity, positioning, website development, collateral, and product packaging. She has done extensive work in Silicon Valley for Fortune 100 companies such as Adobe Systems, Cisco Systems, IBM, and SAP as well as numerous startup, consumer, biotech, nonprofit, and venture firms.


Peggy Burke worked for eight years in the television and publishing industries on the East Coast and in the Midwest before relocating to Silicon Valley to work for Boole and Babbage. Burke is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO/WPO) and a trustee


on the board of the Computer History Museum. She has served as a trustee of the Djerassi Resident Artist Program for eight years, is a former advisor to Isabella Capital, and is a frequent lecturer at Stanford University. More.
