Simon helps put MKK on top of the county championship
Sales director James
Kirtley sports an MKK shirt during his playing days with Sussex
WHEN the new cricket season opens in a few weeks time, fi ve teams in the fi rst division of the County Championship will take to the fi eld wearing kit supplied by Eastbourne-based MKK Sports. Worcestershire and Nottinghamshire county cricket clubs have joined Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex in signing exclusive deals with the sportswear fi rm run by former Sussex and England fast bowler James Kirtley and sports marketing professional Roger Myall. With two more counties also showing interest in using MKK when their existing contracts expire in 2013, the company is poised to dominate sportswear supplies at the elite level of the professional game for the immediate future. This is great news for

business’s previously sole producer.
Turnover should increase by 50%
as its Operations Director and has already been instrumental in bringing about a number of signifi cant changes and improvements.
As well as playing a key role in landing the two new county cricket contracts, Simon has helped to transform MKK from a largely supply-led business to one that is now far more focused on sales and marketing.
This has helped MKK to add a new stock range of sportswear which, because of its lower pricing point and much shorter production lead times, is likely to be popular with amateur clubs and schools.
In addition, the company which has previously concentrated largely on producing bespoke cricket and hockey kit, is now also pitching to rugby clubs. Top professional rugby league side London Broncos – formerly Harlequins Rugby League – has become the fi rst premier league outfi t to wear MKK-supplied shirts and training kit. Four other amateur rugby clubs are also now signed up for 2012. Simon said: “MKK is in a
really exciting place at the moment. Despite the diffi cult economic conditions, we’re expecting turnover to increase by more than 50% this year.” And Simon’s role in the company’s development has not gone unnoticed. James Kirtley commented: “Simon came into our business and the impact was almost immediate. His willingness to roll up his sleeves and get to grips with the business was an example for all.”
