OIA UPDATE

OUTDOOR SECTION OIA Update

The OIA is a growing and dynamic Association for manufacturers, retailers, holiday providers, outdoor centres and others who provide services, products and activities for the outdoor leisure market in the UK and beyond.

2011 saw the appointment of new CEO Andrew Denton, a growing membership, new services and a strong new commitment to government representation and lobbying. Members of the OIA include brands across the country from Berghaus and North Face to Kosi Kidz and OMM. Retailers of all sizes from Itchy Feet to Go-Outdoors and Cotswold, Plas Y Brenin and the BMC, the Ramblers Association and the Camping Caravan Club. Be part of your trade organisation, have a voice, make a difference.

Our activities in 2010/11 included: ● Supporting outreach programmes with the BBC and EOC to encourage more people to enjoy the outdoors

● ARC the retail skills qualification scheme to promote careers and training in the industry

● Research projects with University of Lancaster ● The OIA Conference and Directors forums where networking and industry issues are discussed and shared.

● Appointment of three new 'Ambassadors' to visit and talk to all members.

More value for money ● Lots of money saving value and benefits - new MONEY BACK GUARANTEE for members - see website.

Be part of a community ● The pressures of more legislation, employment law and competition means that the industry requires support, advice and networking. Belong to an organisation which looks after your interests and be a collective voice.

● Be part of the wider outdoor community within which to help protect and grow the collective livelihoods of many.
