The USA Weightlifting National Team athletes recently returned from the World Championships in Paris, France. This competition was the final major senior international competition before the 2012 Olympic Games, which will take place in London in less than eight months. The World Championships were not only a great tune-up for our athletes, but a good glimpse of how internationally competitive our sport will be in London and beyond.


The performance of our athletes only continues to stress the importance of our mission at USA Weightlifting: to achieve sustained competitive excellence in Olympic competition and to promote and grow the sport of weightlifting in the United States. It takes a tremendous amount of resources to support our athletes and programs in our quest to be the best and grow our sport.


Today, we are asking for your help. USA Weightlifting can only be successful with the necessary training programs for our current athletes and development programs for our future stars. Training camps, a proven tool in competitive success, can cost in excess of $1,000 per athlete, and along with travel, meals, coaching and other services, the financial burden on USA Weightlifting is heavy. We receive no government support or funding; we operate mainly on marketing partnerships, memberships and donations from friends and fans like you.
