YOUNG PROFESSIONALS CLUB AND MEET & GREET
The METS Young Professionals Club
This year, METS/SYP organiser Amsterdam RAI initiates the METS Young Professionals Club, aimed to help young professionals jump- start their career, by facilitating new and easy ways to network and learn amongst their peers.
The future is here Sarah Westdijk commented, “We have been playing with this idea for years as we saw the industry aging. This year we commissioned a study that showed that both the young and older METS visitors
feel the need for such a platform. The young ones like the idea of meeting peers and expand- ing their own network efficiently and informal. The older generation is eager to meet young professionals as they struggle to find young capable staff and solid people to take over their business once it is time to retire.” The survey showed that 70% of last year’s visitors experience a gap between the younger and older generation and 54% of exhibitors feels the number of young people starting in this industry is insufficient.
Our goal The METS Young Professionals Club offers young professionals (<35) in the marine leisure industry the opportunity to meet new people, network, learn from the older generations and expand their professional horizon.
Member benefits METS YPC members have special privileges during METS 2011, such as access to the Break- fast Briefing, Exhibitor Happy Hour, lectures and a guided tour of the show. Making face to face contact with existing and future colleagues and customers in a 100% trade-only environment is seen as the key to success in today’s competitive market place. For 2011, METS/SYP is focusing
on the networking aspect of the show by introducing truly special ‘meet and greet’ areas around the show. This will ensure that visitors, such as project managers, boat builders and consultants, can be spotted more easily by exhibitors and other visitors and will make introductions to new contacts even easier than before. METS/SYP will also be boosting
this further at future shows with arranged and facilitated ‘meet and greet’ matching sessions with the help of new technical software applications, which will be available per 2012. We are determined to emphasise the value of METS as the place to trade names and numbers as well as products!
The Meet & Greet areas can be found:
Boat builders: balcony between hall 1 and hall 4
Consultants: walk over hall 3 and hall 6
Project Managers: Holland complex
