REGIONAL FOCUS ASIA
The DPP has been working in various capacities across Asia over the past fi ve years. This has included extensive dialogue with governments and judges on the use of the death penalty, as well as providing legal assistance and support to lawyers and non-governmental organisations. We have been involved particularly in cases resulting from the strict laws against drug traffi cking in many Asian countries.
By carrying its work to the East, particularly to China, Taiwan and most recently to Singapore and Japan, the DPP has further enhanced its high reputation as an effective advocate for the universal spread of human rights in countries that still maintain the death penalty.” Professor Roger Hood CBE, Emeritus Fellow, All Souls College, Oxford
