Southbourne School of English Junior Homestay - Bournemouth, Dorset
When my grandfather first started the school in 1966 he wanted to create an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness in which students from all over the world would be able to study and learn. The school has grown both in size a reputation and a new extension has added modern, air conditioned and interactive classrooms to the school.
Location The school is situated in a safe and beautiful residential area of Bournemouth. It is located just a ten-minute walk from the town’s award-winning golden beaches, has a range of local shops and is a short bus ride from Bournemouth town centre. London is a two-hour train journey away, and many other places of world-renown are within easy reach including Salisbury Cathedral, Stonehenge, Winchester, the Jurassic Coast (a World Heritage Site), the New Forest National Park, Bath and Oxford. Our sports staff accompany and supervise junior students on trips and for activities.
Accommodation Living with a host family gives students an ideal opportunity to learn about the English way of life. Students of different nationalities are placed with the same family to encourage spoken English. Host families provide a very homely environment and are all within easy walking distance of the school. We know how important it is for our students to be happy where they are living so that they can get the most from their time in England. This is why we choose all of our homestay accommodation with special care.

Meals Students experience typical English meals (breakfast and dinner) with their host families every day, and are provided with a packed lunch to eat on school days and Saturdays. Special diets can be catered for with prior notice, such as celiac, etc (this will incur an additional cost).
