“An organization which is well positioned to detect victims of human trafficking is actually complicit with the exploiters, because in their worldview, prostitution, even by children, is a legitimate career choice.”
- Steven Wagner, Former Director of the Human Trafficking Program at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
In January 2011, Live Action investigators entered Planned Parenthood clinics across the U.S. posing as pimps who sold girls for sex. Our investigators told clinic staff that they were seeking abortion, contraception and other services for the girls they trafficked, with some as young as fourteen and trafficked into the U.S. from other countries. If Planned Parenthood had followed the mandatory reporting law for child abuse and refused to help sex traffickers, our investigation would have ended there. In a real-life case, the girls could have been rescued. Instead Planned Parenthood chose to help the sex traffickers—at every clinic.

We set out to discover whether the abortion chain Planned Parenthood would sell abortions to pimps, no questions asked, or attempt to save the young victims from sexual exploitation.
In the words of a manager of the Perth Amboy clinic in New Jersey, Planned Parenthood had several suggestions on how to keep the girls on the streets, or in her words, “to make all of our lives easier.” For example, Planned Parenthood offered business advice
for the pimp. Since the girls could not have vaginal sex for two weeks following an abortion, the manager suggested her sexual abuse could be “waist up, or just be that extra action walking by.” This was only the beginning.
Our raw footage shows that not a single staff member stated that Planned Parenthood has a problem with supporting child sex trafficking. Instead, all of the clinics were willing to sell secret abortions and birth control to the pimp so he could continue to exploit the girls. Planned Parenthood even urged the pimp to lie about what the girls
did so they can get “student discounts” at the clinic.
Although Planned Parenthood has a legal responsibility to report child sexual abuse, they actively subverted the laws protecting victims. For example, according to the clinic manager in New Jersey, “If they are a minor, we are obligated if we hear certain information to kind of report [it].” The manager went on to tell the pimp, “as long as they just lie and say, ‘oh, he’s 15, 16, no one should question them.’”
Planned Parenthood receives
over $350 million in taxpayer money each year.
Not only did Planned Parenthood offer to play dumb about the information they heard, but they even helped the pimp “alter the story” to make things appear “as legit as possible.”
Perhaps Planned Parenthood’s most shocking behavior came after we left the clinics. When Planned Parenthood executives learned of the investigation, they could have corrected the despicable actions of their staff. Instead, their first reaction was to complain to the FBI that they were investigated, and then to publicly defend the behavior of their staff as “professional.” Meanwhile, the Planned Parenthood affiliate in Illinois is lobbying against mandatory reporting laws for sexual abuse.
As we release this footage, it disturbs us to think of the Planned Parenthood supporters who will watch this video and still refuse to believe their own eyes and ears. No matter what the evidence reveals, some will refuse to believe that Planned Parenthood would ever do anything wrong. To these people we ask: What more will it take?
