Trews Workwear and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment,) has been trading since 2003. Customers and their requirements have been varied and challenging. Clients include the police, fire brigade, ambulance, councils, aviation, petrochemical, marine and more recently wind farms. Products range from embroidered and printed clothing, hard hats, protective footwear, to stretchers and defibrillators.

The business was founded by Dave Trew. At the beginning of 2010 he partnered with Trevor Kenney, to build on its existing success. In November 2010, it was decided to open a shop at 130 High Street, Ramsgate increasing the scope of the organisation. To share and control overheads an unusual decision was taken to share the premises with a competitor, Keith of Edwards Embroidery who is also one of Trews suppliers.

The results have been excellent, and the relationship invigorating and supportive. To work, both businesses need to expand at similar rates. Therefore, both parties are seeking out business for each other. This strategy has been working well, as everyone who comes to the shop, or are met through networking has a potential as a customer through their work, and through their association with clubs and societies.

With varied outside interests, Dave with his motorbike, Keith with his classic car and Trevor with his yacht, customers usually find something to discuss.

As Trews and Edwards say, "If you go to work naked it is unlikely we can help you, but we would like to see you in the shop anyway!"
