September, 2011
Dear Colleague,
“Music Lasts a Lifetime.” This belief is echoing through the schools and homes of Wisconsin and gaining more meaning each day as together we face many new challenges for the 2011-12 school year. Youth and adults continue to support those things that are meaningful to them: music is one of those things for thousands of Wisconsin people.
Your sustained involvement in WSMA programs is a tribute to the dedication of you and your colleagues. Despite challenges to available resources, you find ways to offer outstanding music opportunities to students. Students and families share pride in musical learning and performance accomplishments. We are proud that many of these opportunities come about through WSMA.
This handbook presents you with information to facilitate your participation in WSMA music festival activities. Just as is true in your personal life and workplace, there is increased use of digital media to communicate and share documents. WSMA staff is ready to assist you with any transition as well as other services that will enable you and your students to receive the greatest benefit from school music programs. In addition, an extensive network of committees made up of music teachers annually make recommendations to the WSMA Board of Directors that help to refine and expand WSMA programs.
Thank you for your continued dedication to excellence in music education. You are making a difference in ways that may not be known to you for many years. We are pleased to join you in these efforts.
Sincerely,
Michael George Executive Director
