Celebrating Student Scholars PRESIDENT’S SCHOLARS RECOGNITION EVENT


The third graduating class of President’s Scholars was honored, and a new group of finalists for the 2011–12 school year were introduced during the Annual President’s Scholars Recognition Dinner this spring. The event also recognized the corporations, foundations and individual donors that have sponsored this im- portant program. Initiated in response to the College’s strategic planning ini-


tiative HMC 2020, PSP provides four-year, full-tuition scholar- ships for highly qualified students who are members of groups traditionally underrepresented on campus and in the fields of science and engineering. This includes a wide range of students, including women, ethnic minorities, students from rural areas and those who are the first in their families to attend college.

Welcome Class of 2015


A record number of 3,144 high school seniors from around the globe applied to be a part of HMC’s Class of 2015. The first of the admitted 195 students will arrive on campus June 29 for Sum- mer Institute, with the remaining first-years arriving Aug. 25 for Orientation. “We are thrilled not only that we have landed at our target for


the first-year class, but also excited by the remarkable quality of these students and their fit with HMC,” said Thyra Briggs, vice president for admission and financial aid.
