Connectivity Throughout Our Diocese W

hat is a diocese? A geographic region? A group of congregations cared for by the

same bishop? Individual communities that unite to form a greater whole? Yes, it is all these things and more.

Although the “diocese” can often be a remote, vaguely understood entity, it is in fact woven into the fabric of our identities as Episcopalians. It is in our very nature to reach out to one another for joint ministry opportunities and creative solutions to problems.

Stories of innovative collaboration abound in our diocese; we capture only a few of them here. We hope you are inspired and uplifted as you read this issue on connectivity. The more we deepen these connections, as we give our lives away in the name of Jesus, the stronger we will be as a whole. X

Top Left: Thousands have visited and supported the children of Dorcas House, a foster home in Tijuana. Top Right: A parishioner at St. Andrew’s, Pacific Beach shares a meal during a collaborative outreach project for the homeless and hungry. Bottom Right: A group of active Episcopalians has fun on the job during a work party at our diocesan camp, Camp Stevens. Bottom Left: The Rev. Chris Chase and the Rev. Gillian Barr lead UCSD students in a work project for Episcopal Community Services.
