Baseball Record: 17-14 (3-9 ACC)


l The Blue Devils dropped a home series, 2-1, to Georgia Tech over the weekend from the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. l On Friday, freshman outfielder Chris Marconcini recorded Duke’s only RBI in a 9-2 loss to the Yellow Jackets. It was the freshman’s 25th RBI of the season, becoming the first player in the ACC to reach 20 RBI and 20 runs. l On Saturday, Angelo LaBruna scored the tying and go-ahead runs, and Marcus Stroman threw two no-hit innings out of the bullpen for his first save of the season as Duke took down No. 6 Georgia Tech 4-3. l Starter Dennis O’Grady pitched 5 and 2/3 innings, striking out six. l The Blue Devils tagged 12 hits in the game and got a trio of three-hit performances from sophomores Jeff Kremer and Stroman and freshman catcher Mike Rosenfeld, but dropped the series finale to the Yellow Jackets, 11-5. l On Tuesday, freshman Robert Huber pitched a career-high six shutout innings, and Stroman and LaBruna combined for six RBI in the a 7-5 win over Wofford. l Duke will travel to UNC Greensboro on Wednesday and then return home to the Durham Bulls Athletic Park for a three-game ACC set against Boston College on Friday through Sunday, April 8-10.


Blue Devil Blitz


Men’s Lacrosse Record: 8-3 (2-0 ACC)


l On Sunday, a late charge by the Blue Devils came up short against top-ranked Syracuse, 13- 11, in front of 25,115 fans at the Konica Minolta Big City Classic at New Meadowlands Stadium. l Senior Zach Howell led all Blue Devils with four goals and two assists. l Sophomore Jake Tripucka had a goal and three assists. l The Blue Devils held a 42-29 advantage in shots and won the ground ball battle 34-20. l Duke won 20-of-27 faceoffs, with junior CJ Costabile winning 11-of-15 restarts. Costabile picked up 10 ground balls to lead Duke and senior Tom Montelli paced the defense with three caused turnovers. l Duke returns to action on April 9, traveling to Bethpage, N.Y., to take on Denver. The game is set for 2 p.m.


Men’s Golf


l Duke returns to action April 9-10 at the Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis, N.C.


Rowing l Senior Alex Japhet and sophomore Emily Theys were selected to participate in the 2011 US Rowing Women’s U23 National Team Camp this summer. l The Blue Devils will travel back to Cherry Hill, N.J., to compete in the Knetch Cup on April 9-10.

Women’s Golf


l The Blue Devils finished tied for second place with a seven-under-par, 281 final round at the 6,335-yard, par 72 University of Georgia Golf Course. l Duke finished with rounds of 291, 296 and 281 for a total of 868, finishing eight shots behind Alabama. l Freshman Laetitia Beck closed her weekend with a team-best three-under-par, 69, finishing tied for third place overall with a total of 217. l After leading the first day with a two-under- par, 70, freshman Alejandra Cangrejo closed with a 73 to finish tied for 15th with a 224. l Sophomore Stacey Kim also finished with the best round of her weekend (74) as she climbed into a tie for 54th with a three-day ledger of 230. l Duke will next kick off the postseason with the ACC Championship from April 15-17 at the Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
