MOOG ON IOS… this is big! The Filtatron is an amazing production tool and is best used as a synth within your home studio set up. Of course you can also get your Moog on while you’re out and about, but there are no save settings within the app so you’ll do well to learn how to harness its power for when you get back to the studio.


Within the app there is an LFO, a VCO and filters such as LP/HP, delay, distortion and a tap tempo feature for sync purposes. There is also an audio sampling unit so you can record

external sounds (through the onboard mic, iPhone/iPad only) and play them back through the inbuilt effects processors, which can result in some pretty far out sound experiments.


A recent update enables you to import songs from your iPod library to put through the Filtatron sampler; you can edit the imported file length, though this is tricky on an iPhone/ iPod Touch. The upgraded ‘retina’ version will be launching soon for £3.99, so either get in now for a bargain Moog product or hold off for the (still very reasonable) sexier upgrade.
