y wish list for the perfect weekender boat goes something like this: two


sleeping areas capable of fitting in four people without any of the hassle of having to convert the dinette; somewhere to rustle up some food and a separate, enclosed toilet compartment. The boat also needs to offer total


protection from the elements so a change in the weather isn’t a


problem, yet it mustn’t feel too enclosed, and there should be somewhere in the open to enjoy some fresh air with a morning cuppa or evening beer. Oh yes, and it can’t be any bigger than a medium-sized sportsboat so trailing is still an option. It’s a demanding call, which can often lead to a messy compromise where nothing works particularly well, but Aquador has managed to avoid this with its clever outboard-powered 22-footer.

Protection comes in the form of a hardtop, which has a walkway in from the bow as well as a door through to the raised mini-aft deck. Here, instead of housing a sterndrive engine beneath the aft deck, you’ll find a double mattress area tucked under it. The headroom is limited, it has to be said, but it is still a very viable berth and it means that you get a second double – the other decent-sized one runs under the
