Then, cruise to the exotic Marquesas. In Fatu Hiva, a remote paradise with only one road, locals create beautiful tapa—beaten cloth bark decorated in ink with traditional Polynesian artwork. Perhaps you’ll pay homage to our ship’s namesake at his final resting place in Hiva Oa. On Ua Huka, admire fine wood carvings and the oldest ruins in the Marquesas. And call on Nuku Hiva, where Herman Melville, author of Moby Dick, once was held captive.
