Several teams tried the king bite off the beach. Taking first place in this year’s event was the perennial favorite of Team Fishin Buddies, second place went to the Pelagic Magic team and Team Weekend Warrior secured third place.


Thanks again to all of this year’s participants. With your help, over the last six years, more than $18,000 has been raised for artificial reef enhance- ment. We are proud to announce that the first enhancement project will start at the existing New Bern Inshore Reef in the coming months.

Flip Pallot talks fishing


On Jan. 15, CCA NC will be honor- ing its existing Life Members and wel-


coming new ones into the Chapter’s “Committee for Life.” This force for conservation will not only raise vital dollars for our conservation fight, but also build the team we will need to take North Carolina marine conserva- tion to the next level. To help us in this effort, legendary fly fisherman and host of “The Walker’s Cay Chronicles” TV program Flip Pallot is giving us a day and an evening for a once-in-a-lifetime event. Through the day, Flip will talk fishing


for fly fishermen. It is an incredible opportunity to learn from the best. After dinner, Flip will again take the stage and entertain us all with the fish- ing stories that have highlighted his storied career. The CCA NH Board of Directors elected new officers in August who assumed office in September, allowing new officers to transition into their new positions and gain experience prior to the typically busy winter months when fund raising events are planned and take place. The Board also voted to require every member of the Board to serve on at least one standing committee, which will handle many tasks, including com- munications, fund raising, membership, outreach planning, and several others. With new operating policies and procedures in place, the nomination
