➤ and it will send results to any LIMS. According to Labtronics, the ability to have a single source store all of the metadata for a complete chromatographic analysis adds tremendous value to the lab, which is now able to quickly review and approve the data, and track down issues. www.labtronics.com

New total lab automation system

Labtronics has released Nexxis iLAB 5.02, a total lab automation system. Nexxis iLAB, the integrated lab, integrates ELN, SDMS and instrument integration into a single package. It enhances the value of any existing LIMS by providing missing functionality not found in the LIMS. Nexxis iLAB 5.02 adds enhanced Oracle support. All instrument and ELN data can be stored in Oracle databases using standard Oracle functionality. The enhancements result in a much faster system and better reporting capabilities.

New functionality has been added to the software that allows the Nexxis ELN module to collect data from complex instruments.

Online Innovation Center launched LabVantage has launched its new online Innovation Center, an open-source community for Sapphire and SQL*LIMS customers. The Innovation Center allows source codes, materials, and applications to be freely shared within LabVantage’s customer base. The centre is accessible in VantageCare, the company’s customer care site, developed on the Sapphire LIMS platform. By leveraging Sapphire’s zero-footprint technology, modern interface and search functions, users can easily access the centre and

The new innovation centre comes as a development of the company’s existing Innovation Center Exchange, launched in 2009 for the SQL*LIMS user group to provide a structurally enhanced knowledge exchange environment to the user community. Already storing a number of application extensions and novel

customisations, the repository will be continuously enriched to cover more areas applied to various operational functions and industry segments. www.labvantage.com

Data from instruments such as CDS, ICP and mass specs can now be captured and added to ELN worksheets automatically. Nexxis ELN is also able to communicate with LIMS directly, allowing it to retrieve sample information. With a focus on real-time integration and workflow control, Nexxis iLAB works at the bench level. It controls the analyst step by step to ensure that mistakes are minimised. Instead of tracking training records it enforces training and prevents an analyst from doing work if training has expired. Expiration dates on chemicals and the calibration of instruments are current and enforced. Such real-time control over the work in the lab translates into simplified approval processes and faster product release. www.labtronics.com

business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, has announced version 5.3 of its Teamcenter Express software, expected December 2010. With enhanced support for the latest versions of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat software, Teamcenter Express 5.3 is a mainstream collaborative product data management (cPDM) solution aimed at increasing the ability to deliver design-through- manufacturing projects on time and on budget. ‘The release of Teamcenter

Express 5.3 on the latest Teamcenter and Microsoft platforms adds significant capabilities to this comprehensive data management solution,’ said Peter A. Bilello, president of CIMdata. ‘Extensive user interface enhancements should result in more efficient completion of common tasks and processes, and expanded integrations with desktop applications, including Microsoft Office 2010 and Adobe Acrobat, will enable more users to utilise their office automation tool of choice to work directly with a single source of managed product data, leading to improved collaboration and a reduction in errors in manufacturing,’ added Bilello. www.siemens.com

CAD platform for the .dwg file format Bricsys has released Bricscad V10 for Linux. Bricscad V10 is a CAD platform for the .dwg file format. The Linux community so far had no access to .dwg-based CAD, commonly accepted as the standard CAD file format. This first release of Bricscad V10 for Linux is supplied with the

complete LISP, DCL and Diesel API’s. Encryption is available for commercial LISP-based applications and users can run their LISP routines without any modification. Depending on the demand of application developers, Bricsys will extend the set of API’s for the Linux platform. Initially Bricscad will support three Linux types: Fedora 12 or higher, OpenSuse 11.1 or higher and Ubuntu 9.10 or higher. The English version of Bricscad V10 for Linux is available in the Bricsys e-store. The other 15 language versions will soon be available. www.bricsys.com

Latest version of Bricscad CAD platform for Windows Bricsys has released the latest version of its Bricscad CAD platform for Windows. Bricsys V11 adds key features to the popular .dwg CAD alternative. The software offers a high level of .dwg compatibility and more than 160 third party applications, which are constantly being added to. Bricscad V11 includes

support for editing dynamic blocks. Dynamic blocks can be inserted from existing dynamic blocks libraries – properties and constraints can be adjusted in the properties bar. PDF files can be used as an underlay and Bricscad V11 enables snapping to the geometry of the PDF entities. Bricscad V11 has a handy layer preview. In the layer section of the drawing explorer, the content of each layer displays in the preview pane.

The Graphical User Interface has been enhanced with support for new style grips, dynamic input and dynamic dimensions. This is a huge improvement in the interface and makes drawing in Bricscad more direct and more dynamic than ever. Bricscad V11 Pro has the powerful Redway3D rendering engine inside, allowing rendering in
