Dear Sincerely,
Susan Hockfield President, MIT
FY10 Annual Report 2
Alumni, Parents, Students & Friends,
We have recently concluded a fiscal year that reflects your faith in MIT and your generosity. Because of your support, there is much good news, despite the nation’s economic uncertainties. The MIT Annual Fund results show increases in both donors and dollars compared to a year ago. And we can point to these superb highlights—the Senior Class Gift garnered 73 percent participation and parents gave $1.4 million, both new records. Together, we are taking meaningful steps to nourish the Institute’s future success. I am deeply grateful.
MIT was founded upon a culture of giving. Our earliest mission was to educate talented students, foster new knowledge, and forge discoveries into solutions to the world’s problems. To continue this mission, MIT must remain robust. You are strengthening MIT’s core especially by your gifts to the Campaign for Students and to unrestricted giving.
The Class of 2014 has arrived on campus bringing their brilliant curiosity and creative passion and we are preparing to celebrate MIT’s 150 anniversary in 2011. As we honor the Institute’s illustrious past, we are very much focused on inventing the future. I am so grateful you are with us on this exciting journey. Thank you!
