From color schemes to wedding themes, make the most of the season! By Lisa Rufle

months of running makeup and frizzy hair or the unpredictable snow and ice storms common in winter months. So how do you make the most of the perfect weather for your perfect day? Here are some ideas especially for autumn weddings:

A Fall Wedding Color Palette

When we think of fall, we think of harvest time and all the rich yellows, oranges, golds, copper, peach and browns. Tis is a great place to begin considerations for your wedding color scheme. Also think about the foliage as a source for color inspiration. Warm, rich colors are inviting and appropriately represent the time of year, as does metallics and jewel tones.

Fall Wedding Flower Options

Popular fall flowers include roses, orchids, gardenias, mums and dahlias. Consider using berries in rich shades to fill in your bouquet. In addition to flowers, you can carry the theme of Fall harvest into your wedding by using pumpkins, bails of hay, maple leaves and cornstalks as well.

Fall Wedding Decor

In keeping with the rich colors and harvest theme, consider using heavier fabrics like velvet for linens. Candles are perfect

accents to autumn weddings as well; think along the lines of large hurricane lanterns as centerpieces wrapped in a base wreath of berries, foliage or miniature pumpkins. For stationery, metallic colors are a good choice for lettering.

Fall Wedding Fashion

Fall brides can truly have a wide array of choices for their gown. Tey can still choose to go with a strapless or thin-strapped dress, or they can pick a sleeved gown. Fall grooms tend to gravitate to more formal tuxedos, but this is dependent upon the theme of your wedding. As far as the wedding party is concerned, a popular choice in fabric is velvet and a standout color is brown. For added punch, a sash or ribbon can be tied around the waist in a complementing color.

Fall Wedding Favors

Depending on how formal your wedding is, a fun choice for wedding favors is to include plastic or ceramic pumpkins filled with you and your fiancé’s favorite Halloween candy. Candles are a popular choice for fall wedding favors as well. Consider giving ones with a harvest, Halloween or spicy scent. Another great idea is to give caramel or candy apples wrapped in cellophane to your guests.

Fall is an ideal time for a wedding: the rich colors, the hearty food and the fun, festive harvest atmosphere adds up to the perfect way to begin the rest of your lives as a married couple.
