Godfather gets Pink on the cheek
Two from the archives this week and a rather Scottish looking John Malone dressed to the nines before England’s calamitous exit from the World Cup. In true Godfather style Malone, ever the impresario, was snapped delivering a con- dolence, or rather a celebratory speech, at Pink Home Loans David Copland’s 50th Birthday bash earlier this year. The Pink MD was taken aback by Malone’s at-
tire for the night, a tribute to Copey’s love of all things Scottish – even though just like Malone he’s English through and through. But he was even more taken aback when the Godfather planted this smacker as the HoF’s exclusive snaps show. “John’s never been one to shy away from the
limelight,” a beaming Copland told the HoF. “And my 50th this year was no exception. However, re- ceiving the Glasgow kiss from the Godfather was a tad worrying. That’s not a look of pleasure on my face – it’s shock! I’m a marked man.”
Malle packs a MS punch
Personal Touch Financial Services sales and marketing director Dev Malle steps into the Hall of Fame this month for the tough stance he took with PAA Leads after parent
Moneysupermarket.com started bashing brokers at the beginning of August.
Moneysupermarket.com was soon hanging its
head in shame after falsely claiming that brokers couldn’t offer their clients nine out of 10 of the best mortgage rates on the market. Brokers clamoured for the price comparison site’s
blood and Personal Touch’s Dev Malle gave it to them. After Moneysupermarket was forced to retract
its claim and apologise, Malle decided enough was enough and axed Paaleads from its panel. Malle, the HoF salutes you.
I’d do anything for a job, but I won’t do that The mortgage market is well aware of the pending recruitment crisis but the HoF hears word of some youngsters all too eager to get a foot on the ladder in these hard times. One “young ambitious MBA female student” has put
up an ad on the Casual Encounters section of Craig- slist – the place for postings dedicated to casual sex – with a view to exchanging her body for the benefits of a fat contact book. Hard times indeed.

Surely it all happens in Shirley
From one party to another and those nice folk in Shirley. The tiny midlands village was also the set- ting for Precise Mortgages managing director Alan Cleary’s daughter’s 18th Birthday extravaganza. Fire eaters were all that was missing as Cleary se- nior played host to a mixture of family, friends and industry luminaries for what must have been the society bash of the year, at least for Shirley anyway. Cleary, who kitted out his garden with a mar-
quee; a mobile fish and chip shop; porta loos; pri- vate security; topless firemen and disco complete with smoke machine spared no expense ensuring both guests and daughter had a memorable eve- ning. “I saw all the smoke bellowing out of the disco
and thought there was a major problem,” a con- cerned off duty fireman part time topless barman told the HoF. “Then I saw this divine figure ap- pearing out of the haze and realised it was just the governor playing with his new toy. What a bash – I wish I was off duty like this every night.”
