Field trip yields meeting with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Participants of the Summer Transportation Institute High Achievers and CAPEP summer campers met House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the Underground Railroad Museum in Cincinnati in June. Speaker Pelosi addressed the group and later visited with the students.

Teachers Association and World Piano Conference invite CSU faculty member to perform Dr. Jenny Cruz performed a solo concert and master class in Novi Sad, Serbia, August 28 and 29. Dr. Cruz was invited by the European Teachers Associa- tion in conjunction with the World Piano Conference to perform. Chosen from over 400 pianists from around the world her performance included a concert entitled, Black Music and Its Sphere of Influence and music by Marga- ret Bonds, William Grant Still, Scott Brickman, Astor Piazzolla, and George Gershwin.

Top scholars honored at State House reception CSU students Talmage Miller and D’Angelo Marshall were recognized with approximately 130 of Ohio’s most promising students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) educational programs. The new class of Choose Ohio First Scholarship program recipients repre- sents 41 of Ohio’s public and private colleges and universities around the state.

Pershing Rifles return to CSU The National Society of the Persh- ing Rifles was established in 1894 as a military oriented honorary fraternity. In the upcoming year of 2010-2011 T-1 Company has planned a number of activities for the campus and area community.

The Pershing Riflemen strive for excellence in all aspects of community service and giving back to others. The Riflemen aim to exceed the standard and encourage others to do the same.

The CSU Company restored their charter in early summer and dur- ing competition out of 12 new companies, the CSU Company was superior. Tonisia Jackson, Daphanie McDaniels, LaKeenen Foster, Joseph Coleman, Ulysses Simmons, Lamar Wallace and Calvin Stiles were the individuals that exceeded the standard. Congratulations!
