Construction company takes turnover to

new heights Times are tough for the building industry, so it’s no small achievement that Construction Specialities is marking fi ve years of impressive growth.

Fired up for success: Ken Hart (2nd left) and team members. Team Dennis are already World Cup winners What a score for Dennis mowers

Mowers made by midlands fi rm, Dennis, will be putting their perfect stripes on every pitch in the 2010 FIFA World Cup after a deal to supply 27 of its machines for the tournament.

The G860 mowers, supplied through Dennis’ partner Smith Turf, will keep the pitches at all 10 stadiums in perfect condition - cutting the grass to a precise length and making sure that the stripes are exactly the right width.

The mowers will be used at stadiums in Pretoria, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Bloemfontein, Rustenburg, Nelspruit, Polkwane, Durban and the 95,000-seater Soccer City Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg, where the fi nal will be played on July 11.

“ It’s a very proud feeling

most prestigious order ever received by Dennis. It’s the ultimate. “It’s a very proud feeling to know that a worldwide audience of a billion people will see the distinctive Dennis stripes on the World Cup pitches.” At the Derby factory, the

Dennis Mowers will also maintain the pitches at the training facilities used by the competing nations.

Managing Director Ian Howard said: “This is the

whole of ‘Team Dennis’ has been working fl at out to build and prepare the order. Ian Howard said: “I personally am very proud as a managing director that we’ve achieved this great goal. None of this would have been possible without the work of all the team here.”

Buckinghamshire based construction company, Construction Specialities (CS), has worked on some of the world’s most iconic buildings. UK MD, Ken Hart, attributes the company’s success to the insight he has gained through his Vistage membership. Since Ken became a member in 2005, turnover has soared from less than £6m to £9.7m and is still on an upward trajectory. “Vistage has helped me to create and communicate a defi ned strategy to all staff, really engaging them in the challenges we are setting ourselves.” Inspired by Vistage, the fi rst challenge, in 2005, was nicknamed the Ten by Eight. The goal was to reach a £10m turnover by 2008.

Ken is equally enthusiastic about the next challenge. Harnessing Tchaikovsky’s rousing 1812 Overture, the company aims to reach an £18m turnover by 2012. “We’re all going for it 100 per cent. Companies that strive for growth survive and prosper and we’re all determined that CS is that kind of company.”
