LINKWOOD BLOW-UP!

HAVING RECENTLY boogied-down to Trus’Me and Wolf + Lamb at the Electric Pickle at the WMC, DJ Mag has dug out its Moodyman CDs and is enjoying the renaissance of deep soul, afro, jazz and funk-tinged house. So this Saturday 8th May looks like being a real treat as Linkwood touches down at East Village.

Last year’s debut album ‘System’, the first long-player on Trus’Me’s Prime Number label, provided a feast of jazz-funk grooves, slo-mo house, robotic funk and deep-tech loveliness, while his subsequent release for Firecracker saw him turn Dennis Parker’s end-of-night classic ‘Like An Eagle’ into a solid dancefloor chugger alongside the electro-boogie of ‘Who La La?’.

We only need to add he’s joined by Ray Mang, whose recent ‘Bulletproof’ single on DFA brought back De Lite’s Lady Kier (covering P-Funk granddaddy George Clinton), to prove that you’d be a fool to miss this.
