TOMORROW’S CLEANING APRIL 10

Innovation is the key to success for cleaning system producers

AT INTERCLEAN, HYDRO NOVA AIMS TO SHOW THAT IT IS CONTINUALLY RAISING STANDARDS IN PRODUCT DESIGN TO MEET THE INDUSTRY’S EVER MORE SOPHISTICATED REQUIREMENTS.

Improving hygiene standards in public spaces has, quite rightly, become an increasingly major concern for us all. Recent surveys show that more than half of all users of commercial facilities said they would not return if they found the washroom to be dirty. In hospitals and healthcare establishments too, combating HCAIs such as MRSA and c-Diff is now a major priority.

Manufacturers of cleaning products and chemicals, facilities managers, contract cleaners and equipment providers have all responded to the challenge and instituted many positive measures. Europe-wide, the effects of new legislation and increasingly rigorous industry standards have led to a

growing emphasis on both safer and more efficient cleaning procedures. Chemical cleaning products are becoming more sophisticated with higher concentration and greener credentials. And better equipment is being employed to dispense them. Despite incorporating some fairly advanced technology, however, most automatic systems now available to dilute, dose, spray and foam these modern chemicals are easy to operate, safe to use and relatively inexpensive.

Hydro Nova Europe is a market leader in dispensing systems and Managing Director Andrew McQuillan believes that the user- friendly low-cost products currently on offer are making a major contribution to improved hygiene and greater safety in the

workplace and in facilities regularly used by the public. He also has strong views on the importance of creative

thinking in the product design

“Forward thinking is vitally important when it comes to designing and manufacturing new chemical dispensing and dosing systems. As a company, we believe we should provide a full range of technology solutions to suit the needs of different users. With cleaning requirements now so diverse, equipment manufacturers must respond accordingly. At Hydro Nova, we now offer more than 150 standard dispenser variants across 22 ranges. process. “Above all”, he says, “it’s innovation which is the key to success for equipment manufacturers. Their main focus has to be on continually raising standards of equipment performance and functionality whilst reducing relative cost. Combining improved performance with increased economy is the way forward. For users, this will certainly mean easier, safer and more efficient cleaning and progressively lower costs.
