built one relationship at a time. That’s where the Southern part comes in handy. Don’t we all in the South know how to smile that little smile and know that that’s the only thing that got you through that moment? Kill ’em with kindness, that’s what Mom always says. That even works in the North. Am I right, ladies? Watching the show come together, you never know what you will find. It’s a
whole culture of its own, from the hundreds of vendors to the stage crew. Be sure to say “hello” to the audio-visual guy. That’s a whole other story there! I am serious— you have no idea all the care and nurturing that goes into putting on one of these shows. I relate it to child-rearing with all the drama. It’s one surprise after another. From that nice lady walking around with the clipboard who turns out to be the president of the whole darn thing to the gentleman who looks like your next door neighbor who comes outta nowhere to personally thank you and ends up being a fellow fraternity brother and the CEO of the company. WHAT? Why was he there? If they are both in Cleveland, who’s running the main office in Charlotte? Is this just too much attention to detail? Probably not! Where do people like this come from? It’s like the cozy Walton’s Christmas special
that you all watch together and Grandma takes ill and they all pull together to save the holiday. Case in point, in Memphis of all places, something like that did happen—not only did the show organizer take care of Grandma who took a spill, but she sent the whole family outta there with food and water so they wouldn’t need for anything later at the hospital. Who are these people? Are people really that nice anymore? The answer is “yes!” So do yourself a favor. Go to one of the Southern Shows events and make a friend.
I did, and am the better for it. It’s the kind of atmosphere that family built. You will find a little something in their home for everyone in your family. You surely will encounter something that will be perfect you, your house or a friend’s home. If you don’t see it there, just ask and they will get it for you right away. Whether it’s something you buy or just the experience of being in their home, you can’t go wrong by joining the Southern Show’s extended family. “So Step Right Up, Ladies and Gentlemen, on with the Show…. THIS IS IT!”
