Build Your Own Grooming Kit

Author: Zerin Atma

We all like to keep our pets looking pretty (and handsome). Whether it is making regular appointments at the local grooming palace, trips to the local pet shop, or that struggle of getting your cheeky one in the bathtub; grooming can sometimes be a chore. Whichever it may be, eventually it gets expensive, not to mention exhausting - but it doesn’t need to be. Grooming is an excellent way for you and your dog to bond and with the correct tools and methods, it can be a hassle free part of your routine. So we have put together some great tips on how to keep your dog looking groomed to the nines in the comfort of your own home.

Pet hair dryers are perfect for any dog that likes to get soaked. Now instead of using your latest Paul Mitchell, your dog will have a hair dryer of his very own. These hair dryers are specifi cally made to make less noise than a normal hair dryer - perfect for small dogs that are afraid of noise.

Pet hair trimmers are perfect for not only small and nervous dogs (again because of the lack of noise they make) but also perfect for big dogs that can’t keep still. They’re quick and easy to use, and can trim fur and hair around the ears, paws, and face.

Pet nail trimmers are designed especially for pets, and are safer than ordinary nail clippers. They are a perfect way to keep your dog’s claws neat and trim. Remember, if you are unsure, consult your vet.

Dog wipes are fragrance free, and safe to use anywhere on your dog. They’re handy to carry around, whether it’s a trip to the park, or kept in a place by the back door. Wipes are a quick and easy way to wipe your dog down without having to put them in the bathtub every time they land in the mud.

Dog towels are designed especially for

dogs. They’re light in weight, compact, and easy to carry on walks, trips to the park, or even if you’re going away on holiday or anywhere where your dog may get messy.

Combs are essential for any grooming kit.

You’ll need one to tease out any tangles or matting in your long haired dog. Always be sure to fi rmly hold the fur in between the tangle and the skin to avoid discomfort.

A slicker brush is handy for keeping any coat, long or short; free from dust, dirt and anything that may irritate your dog.
