CTC appoints Wealth Management VP
Cambridge Bancorp and its subsidiary, Cambridge Trust Company, announced the appointment of William M. Yates as vice president, business development officer in the Wealth Management department. Mr. Yates comes to Cambridge Trust Company with thirty years of experience in the investment industry, having most recently served as Senior Vice President at Cannon Financial Institute, a nationally recognized wealth management training and consulting company.

Commander ranks in top 10 for service
The Sheraton Commander Hotel has been recognized among all Sheraton Hotels nationwide as being at the top in customer service for the month of December 2009. Consistently in the top 10 of Sheraton’s nationwide, the Sheraton Commander was ranked #1 by their past guests. Criteria for this distinction are based on customer surveys gathered from all 219 hotels and compiled from their response.

Gentle Giant celebrates 30th anniversary
2010 marks the thirtieth year in business for Gentle Giant Moving Company. Despite unfavorable economic challenges to the moving and storage industry in recent years, Gentle Giant’s initiatives for 2010 include geographic expansion, investments in sales and marketing development, creating employee growth opportunities, and an enhanced online presence. Gentle Giant has published a timeline that highlights milestones, events and awards the company has attained throughout its history at www.gentlegiant.com/history.php. They plan to announce details of various initiatives throughout the year in commemoration of the founding by company CEO Larry O’Toole in 1980.

Transition House “greens” its shelter
Transition House, Cambridge’s nonprofit domestic violence prevention agency, is greening its Emergency Shelter. Transition House kicked its Green Shelter Project into high gear with a modern-day weatherization barn-raising in partnership with the Home Energy Efficiency Team (HEET), the Cambridge Energy Alliance and New Generation Energy. Over 40 volunteers worked nonstop in groups led by HEET trainers sealing drafty basement leaks, caulking windows, installing low flow faucets and shower heads, replacing incandescent light bulbs with energy efficient compact florescents (CFLs) and weather stripping doorways.

Member design firm wins PINE award
Westwood Graphics and the Design Studio at Monitor of Cambridge, MA recently collaborated and were recognized at the Printing Industries of New England’s Awards Gala. The 38 page program entitled “Giant Leaps” for the MIT symposium and events celebrating the first lunar landing was a Pinnacle Award winner in the category of brochures four or more colors.
